Who this suits
Slow travelers, hikers, photographers and return visitors who want to go beyond the highlights and have time for trails, ruins and quiet desert days.
Seasonal considerations
Spring (March–May) is ideal for hiking and green highlands. Avoid mid-summer heat on the hiking days; winter is cold in the desert but uncrowded.
Practical advice
- Thirteen nights: Amman (3), Madaba or Dead Sea (1), Wadi Musa (3), Wadi Rum camp (2), Aqaba (3), Dead Sea (1).
- Two Wadi Rum nights allow a longer hike or a second safari into remote areas.
- Machaerus and Umm ar-Rasas are unshaded — visit in the morning.
- Build rest afternoons in Aqaba and the Dead Sea to avoid fatigue.
- Jordan Pass covers major entrances; some minor sites charge a small fee.
