Jordan Visa Information

Jordan keeps entry simple for most tourists: a visa on arrival for dozens of nationalities, often free if you buy a Jordan Pass before you arrive and stay at least 2 consecutive nights. Here is what to check before you book.

Visa on arrival

Most visitors get one at the airport

Citizens of most Western, Gulf, Asian and Latin American countries receive a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport (Amman) and at the land borders. The visa fee is currently around 40 JOD for a single entry. You pay at a counter before immigration — card or cash — and the visa is stamped in.

If you buy the Jordan Pass before you arrive and stay at least 2 consecutive nights in Jordan, the visa fee is waived (check the official Jordan Pass FAQ at jordanpass.jo). Show your Pass QR code at the visa counter on arrival and you should not be charged. Keep your Pass and your departure stamp to prove the stay length if asked.

Who needs to arrange in advance

Check your nationality

A smaller group of nationalities must arrange a visa in advance through a Jordanian embassy or consulate, and cannot get one on arrival. The list changes, so confirm with your embassy or your airline before travelling. If you are arriving overland from a country where relations are restricted, the rules differ by border — the Aqaba–Eilat (Israel) and the Jaber (Syria) crossings have their own conditions.

Land borders

Aqaba, King Hussein/Allenby and the north

At the Wadi Araba (Aqaba–Eilat) border, visa on arrival is available only to eligible Jordan Pass holders who stay at least 2 consecutive nights; if you leave from this border without meeting that, an exit charge of 60 JD applies. Check the official conditions before you travel. Jordan does not issue visas on arrival at the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge, so arrange your visa in advance if you enter there. The northern land borders (Syria, Iraq) are subject to change and should be checked currently before you travel.

If you plan to cross out of Jordan and back in, buy a multiple-entry visa or arrange one in advance — a single-entry visa will not let you back.
